Forex market is moving rapidly, and this is the beauty of it, it can also bring in risk and making it harder to keep an eye on it and react in time. Meta Trader allows you to set up alerts and notifications on both desktop (MT4/MT5) and mobile apps, so you never miss an opportunity.
How can this be useful?
- Get notified when prices reach your target levels.
- Stay updated on order execution and account changes.
- React quickly to market volatility.
How to Enable Alerts on PC (MT4/MT5 Desktop)
- Open the Terminal Window
- Go to the Alerts tab in the Terminal section.
- Right-click inside the Alerts window and select Create.
- Set Conditions
- Choose the symbol (e.g., EUR/USD).
- Define the condition (Bid >, Ask <, etc.).
- Set the target price and alert action (sound, notification).
- Maximum iterations: this setting determines how many times an alert can trigger before it is paused. For example, if your condition is EUR/USD = 1.23152, market fluctuations may cause this price to be reached multiple times. If you set the iterations to 3, the alert will trigger three times and then automatically pause.
The alert will still appear in your alert window, but it will no longer send notifications. - Activate the Alert
Click OK to save. Your alert will trigger when conditions are met.
How to Enable Notifications on Mobile (MT4 & MT5)
The mobile version of MetaTrader does not allow you to configure notifications directly. Instead, you can set up alerts on your desktop platform and enable push notifications to receive them on your mobile device. Follow these steps:
- Open the MetaTrader app on your mobile device.
- Tap the three horizontal lines (menu) and go to Settings.
- Scroll down to the Messages section and copy your MetaQuotes ID.
- Open MetaTrader on your computer and go to Tools > Options.
- In the Notifications tab, check Enable Push Notifications.
- Enter the MetaQuotes ID you copied from your mobile app.
- Click Send a Test Notification to confirm everything is working.
- A push notification should come to your phone.
