When using the Meta Trader 4 trading terminal, you may encounter a “Common error”. This signal error indicates that there is a connection issue occurring between the trading terminal and account servers. It could be critically slow or there is no connection at all.
This error usually resolves itself in time, so the first thing you can do is wait for a short while before trying to log in again. However, if the issue persists, here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:
- Close all charts that may appear stuck, or display “Waiting for update” for a long time.
- Close and restart the entire trading terminal.
- Verify your router’s connection; you can turn it off altogether and switch it back on after 5 minutes to reset the connection.
- You may want to try temporarily disabling your antivirus software to see if the common error is corrected.
- If you have access to another PC, try to log in to your trading account on it and see if the problem presents itself here too; if so, then the issue is based on the connection.
- Double-check that your trading server is correct for your trading account.
- Click the connection bar at the bottom-right of the trading terminal and click “Rescan servers”; this may refresh the connection and solve the problem.
- Reinstall the trading terminal and log in again.
